Rotterdam is a major Dutch port city and dominating part within the municipality of Rotterdam. Rotterdam is part of the Randstad and is located in South of Holland.
The port of Rotterdam is by far the largest port in Europe and the fourth largest in the world. The city is located on the Nieuwe Maas, one of the rivers in the delta formed by the Rhine and the Maas. The name Rotterdam dates from the thirteenth century and refers to a dam in the river Rotte.
Rotterdam is a metropolitan municipality in the Dutch province of South Holland and has 644,618 inhabitants (1 January 2019, Source: WikiPedia) on an area of 319.35 km2 (of which more than one third is water). This makes the municipality the second largest municipality in the Netherlands in terms of population. Rotterdam does have the largest surface area of the large Dutch municipalities.
The nightlife has many cafes, mainly around the Town Hall Square, the Old Port of Rotterdam, the Witte de Withstraat and the Schouwburgplein. In addition, there are a number of clubs and discotheques such as the Hollywood Music Hall, the Thalia Lounge, Club Vie, Off Corso, Outland and Factory10. Outside these fixed locations, Rotterdam is a real event city.

where the American and Japanese International Schools are situated and there are many excellent Dutch schools also. It has several shopping area's with a large diversity of shops such as designer shops, bars and restaurants. Also Hillegersberg has a nice recreation area for the whole family.
The area Prinsenland is situated between Kralingen and Capelle aan den IJssel. Prinsenland is provided with a small but practical shopping area. It is an ideal suburb for families with children who want to live close to the center and near all acces roads.
In Kralingen you will find a very picturesque lake and recreation area with a golf-course. Erasmus University is located on the outskirts of Kralingen offering a full spectrum of undergraduate and postgraduate study. Electric tram 7 goes straight towards the Center of Rotterdam.
Blijdorp is was built between 1930 and 1940 and has a lot of typical buildings for this period. The Zoo with the same name is a big attraction in Rotterdam and all kinds of shops are available in this area. The Vroesepark and Spoorsingel give a green accent between the apartment complexes, which the district almost completely of consists.
